Macedonia
Has anyone seen the efforts of the Macedonian Army to halt the invasion by Syria? Pathetic. Xerxes certainly had more trouble when he invaded the area 2500 years ago. Alexander the Great will be turning in his grave. Can the overthrow of Europe really be avoided while it's being governed from Brussels?

This government is weak Cough. It is about to lose an election to KaczyƄski's nationalists because peoples' spending power has been hit by the failure to adopt the euro. Also the church is very strong here.

If there was ever a threat to England (and there is, but the authorities are keeping it hushed up) it would be my intention (and is my intention) to stand and fight. Not run like a load of fucking lemmings.

What does Pickle the liberal leaning lefty think about Poland only accepting Christians?

You need to get your own house in order before criticising other countries

Re: Macedonia
Correct about the Pakis and Afghanis.....the rest of them, mostly Syrians are refugees pure and simple...seen them, heard them....they re average middle class people like you and me who had enough cash to be able to afford the arduous trip....you should see the lot of them in the streets of Athens ...perhaps you would feel for them then.

No need to apologies Nurse.

No need at all - you've long convinced me you'll fight to the last drop of that bitter, green liquid flowing in your veins defending your cherished terror of some imaginary foreign stranger.

It's sort of a surrogate for religion, I believe.

Re: Macedonia
These people are not refugees. They had refuge in Turkey. They are a migration and about 30% of those turning up in Greece are Afghans and Pakistanis. Exactly what we need.

greek hammer 3:15 Sun Aug 23
Re: Macedonia
Not sure that you realise that the majority of the fleeing Syrians are middle class refugees whose homes, schools, offices and hospitals have been bombed flat, that their lives are in daily danger and that they have had to pay their way out of hell to save theirs and their children's lives....there's a brutal war going on there.....sad reality

I know the score Nursey, and it doesn't bother me in the slightest. I could try a different tact of course.

The Syrians are coming
The Syrians are coming

There's millions of them and they'll all want to live in your houses just like the Pakistanis did in the 70's.

Re: Macedonia
He would be turning in his grave if he heard that the self proclaimed "Macedonian" Slavs consider him as their ancestor...also the great Macedonian dynasty of Philipp and his son Alexander only rose to power about 80 years after the Persian invasion of Greece was rebuked...he undertook of course to invade Persia as a late form of "revenge" for the Persian invasion of Greece one century before him.

I think, mentor, the idea is to drag you down pointless and trivial rabbit holes, in order to not talk directly about the topic you raised.

And for Pickle to try to convince us he is clever by constructing turgid and pompous sentences about subjects nobody is interested in.

Re: Macedonia
So you don't think Alexander the Great would be turning in his grave at the ease with which these latter day invaders are marauding across his lands? I think it's time to wake up, don't you?

Re: Macedonia
My point is that present day Former Yogoslav Republic of Macedonia has absolutely nothing to do with Greece and Alexander the Great....ethnically,culturally,racially or even geographically...also the Persians were not halted there, they were halted further south, in Marathon,in Salamis and, finally,in Plataies

mentor 2:49 Sun Aug 23
Re: Macedonia
Greek

The Persians, made up of a number of Phoenicians, had more trouble invading the area than these latter day invaders. How can you not agree?

I've been to Croatia on holiday.

I wouldn't go again because, while it's very nice and people are very friendly, as soon as you get talking the topic turns to the Serbs, Montenegrans, Albanians and Macedonians. And not in a nice way because they really seem to get a kick out of hating them. In fact, if you steer the subject to the neighbouring village, the mood doesn't seem to get any lighter...

You from the Balkans by any chance mentor?
